Abstract

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are critical for enhancing road safety and traffic efficiency through real-time communication among vehicles and infrastructure. However, VANETs face numerous security challenges, including availability, confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity threats. This paper explores various types of attacks targeting VANETs and discusses how blockchain technology can be leveraged to enhance security. Blockchain offers decentralized, tamper-resistant data storage and consensus mechanisms that can mitigate these threats effectively. This study provides a comparative analysis of VANET attack types, their impact on security goals, and proposes blockchain-based solutions to strengthen VANET security.
