Author Guidelines

JCBI considers for publication original and unpublished manuscripts that are not under consideration elsewhere. All authors listed on a submission must meet the authorship criteria defined by the journal:

  • Substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported work.

  • Drafting or critically revising the article for intellectual content.

  • Final approval of the version to be published.

  • Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

The corresponding author must confirm that all listed co-authors have approved the final manuscript and consented to its submission to JCBI. Ghost authorship, honorary authorship, and plagiarism are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate rejection or retraction as per COPE and HEC guidelines.

Before Submission

Authors must carefully review the journal's Scope, Policies, and Procedures, particularly regarding Publication Ethics, Open Access, and Plagiarism, before submitting their manuscript to JCBI. Submissions must meet the following prerequisites:

  1. Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not have been previously published or under consideration elsewhere.

  2. Permissions: Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions for photos, datasets, or other materials used in the manuscript.

  3. Authorship: All listed authors must consent to be identified as contributors and must approve the final manuscript.

  4. Ethics Approval: Research must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee, in accordance with the legal requirements of the study’s country.

  5. Declaration Form: All authors must complete and submit the prescribed Declaration Form at the time of manuscript submission.

Manuscript Preparation

All manuscripts must be submitted via the online JCBI Journal Management System. Manuscripts must be prepared according to the guidelines outlined below. To avoid delays in the review and typesetting process, JCBI strongly encourages authors to read and follow the guidelines carefully.

JCBI publishes both review and research articles, among other types. All papers must be written in English with a clear and concise style. The language editors will check the grammar and language of any submitted manuscript and will make editorial changes as necessary.

1. Cover Letter

A submitted manuscript must be accompanied by a cover letter. The cover letter must include the following:

  • A clear statement that the manuscript is an original work, that it has not been previously published, and that it is not being considered elsewhere.

  • A statement confirming that all authors have read the final manuscript, approved its submission to JCBI, and accepted full responsibility for its contents.

  • Any ethical, copyright, or disclosure issues related to the manuscript should be mentioned.

  • A declaration of any conflicts of interest, or a statement confirming that there are no conflicts.

  • A commitment to pay the Article Processing Charge (APC), if applicable.

2. Manuscript Template

Authors must use the JCBI manuscript template for submission. The manuscript template can be downloaded here.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

As an Open Access journal, JCBI requires an Article Processing Charge (APC) for all accepted articles to cover the costs associated with the publication process. The APC is payable after the manuscript has been accepted for publication. Please note that there are no additional charges, such as submission fees, page charges, or color charges.

The APC fees are as follows:

  • For professional authors within Pakistan: PKR 25,000

  • For student authors within Pakistan: PKR 20,000

    • Fee Waiver: We understand that students may face financial constraints when publishing their research. Therefore, JCBI offers a fee waiver for eligible student authors within Pakistan. To apply for the fee waiver, students must request it before submitting their manuscript. To qualify, students need to provide proof of their current enrollment in a recognized academic institution. The waiver will be granted on a case-by-case basis, depending on the financial circumstances and the nature of the submitted manuscript. Students wishing to apply for the fee waiver should contact the journal office with the necessary documentation prior to submission.

  • For international authors: USD 100

The APC is payable only after the article has been accepted for publication. Upon acceptance, the corresponding author will receive instructions for payment. We aim to make the publication process as accessible as possible for all researchers, regardless of their location or financial situation.
