Open Access Policy
The Journal of Computing & Biomedical Informatics (JCBI) is committed to the principles of open access, as outlined by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). We believe that the free and unrestricted access to research enhances the visibility, reach, and impact of scholarly work. Readers are encouraged to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of articles published in JCBI. These activities may be carried out for any lawful purpose without any financial, legal, or technical barriers.
In accordance with the Jisc Open Policy, JCBI allows authors to archive both the final peer-reviewed post-print (the accepted manuscript) and/or the publisher's version (PDF) of their article in institutional repositories or personal websites, with no embargo period.
Copyright and Licensing
Upon submission, authors are required to sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement that transfers the exclusive copyright of the manuscript to JCBI. Authors, however, retain the right to reuse their work for purposes such as academic presentations, institutional repositories, theses, and lectures, provided proper citation is given.
All articles published in JCBI are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license allows for unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the article in any medium, including for commercial purposes, provided the original work is properly attributed.
Correction and Retraction Policy
Once an article is published in JCBI, we generally do not allow changes to its content. However, in exceptional circumstances, the Editorial Board may issue corrections or retractions, following the guidelines outlined by the COPE Retraction Guidelines and STM Guidelines. Actions will be taken when there is credible evidence of:
-
Plagiarism
-
Fraudulent data or findings
-
Unethical research practices
-
Duplicate or redundant publication
-
Serious unintentional errors
Each case is evaluated individually based on the severity and nature of the issue. The following corrective measures may be applied:
Erratum
An erratum will be published in the next issue to correct any errors that occurred during the production process.
Corrigendum
If a significant post-publication error is identified, the author(s) may request a corrigendum. This replaces the erratum and addresses the issue caused by the author(s) that was not rectified during proofreading.
Retraction
In cases of misconduct (such as plagiarism or unethical practices), a retraction notice will be appended to the original article in the archive. This notice will include the date of retraction and a brief explanation. A retraction statement will also appear in the next issue.
Duplicate Publication
If duplicate publication occurs and no copyright infringement is involved, the article will remain in the archive with a retraction note explaining the duplication. In the event of copyright violations, the article may be removed to prevent legal complications. The bibliographic record will still be accessible, with a note explaining the reason for removal, which will also be published in the following issue.
Editorial Discretion
The Editorial Board reserves the right to take additional corrective actions not explicitly outlined above, should the circumstances require it. All such measures are taken to uphold the integrity of the scientific record, in alignment with the publishing policies of the Journal of Computing & Biomedical Informatics.
Publication Ethics
JCBI adheres to the Publication Ethics Guidelines provided by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for all approved journals. These guidelines are strictly followed to ensure ethical publication standards. A full copy of the guidelines is available upon request or can be accessed here.
Plagiarism Policy
JCBI maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. To ensure academic integrity and uphold the highest standards of research publication, all submitted manuscripts are subject to a thorough plagiarism screening process. This is conducted using advanced similarity detection software, currently Turnitin, as recommended by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
Only manuscripts that pass this plagiarism check will proceed to the Double-Blind Peer Review process, ensuring an unbiased and fair evaluation by independent experts in the field. Manuscripts found to have significant similarity to previously published works will be rejected and authors will be notified accordingly.
For detailed information regarding the plagiarism check criteria, including allowable thresholds for similarity, authors are encouraged to consult the Journal's Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs).
By submitting to [Journal Name], authors agree to comply with this policy and understand that any violation may result in the rejection of their manuscript.
