Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Computing and Biomedical Informatics (JCBI) follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to maintain high academic, ethical, and scientific standards. Under this system, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous, ensuring an unbiased, fair, and transparent evaluation of all submitted manuscripts.

All manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are reviewed by independent external experts in the relevant research domain. These reviewers are not members of the journal’s editorial team and are selected based on their subject expertise, research experience, and publication record. The use of external domain specialists ensures an objective, high-quality, and academically sound evaluation process.

The journal provides clear information regarding its peer-review procedures and evaluation criteria on its website. JCBI does not guarantee manuscript acceptance, nor does it promise unrealistically short review times. All submissions undergo a thorough and systematic evaluation based on scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Steps in the Peer-Review Process

The peer-review process at JCBI follows the steps outlined below:

No. Step Estimated Time
1 Internal Review by the Editor 2-5 days
2 Peer Review (after successful initial screening) 20–40 days
3 Communication of Review Reports to Authors (minor/major revision) 2-5 days
4 Submission of the Revised Manuscript 7–30 days
5 Submission of Compliance Reports (if major revision required) 7-10 days
6 Acceptance of the Manuscript (upon satisfactory revision) 3–7 days

Total Estimated Time from Submission to Acceptance: 45–90 days

Additional Notes on the Process

  • If a manuscript does not pass the initial editorial review, it is returned to the authors without external review.

  • In Step 2, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:

    • Rejection

    • Acceptance with Minor Revisions

    • Acceptance with Major Revisions

    • Acceptance

Expedited Processing Clause

In certain cases, the review and publication timeline may be shorter than the estimates provided, depending on:

  • Prompt submission of review reports

  • Timely response and high-quality revisions from authors

  • Efficient communication between reviewers and the editorial team

When these conditions are met, the editorial process may progress faster without compromising review quality or ethical standards.

Author Guidelines

Authors are encouraged to revise their manuscripts carefully in accordance with reviewer comments to avoid delays. JCBI maintains a transparent, impartial, and standardized review workflow to ensure the integrity and quality of published research.

Applicability

This peer-review policy applies to all submissions made to the Journal of Computing and Biomedical Informatics (JCBI).
